The Word is Near You: Reading the Bible as Scripture This is a foundation course in the Christian doctorine of Holy Scripture, required of all MDiv student (but open to others). It explores basic questions involving revelation, inspiration, authority, canon, and the rule of faith.It will assist the student in reflecting on a range of ancient and modern approaches to interpretation. We will practice the art of theological interpretation by reading a particular text together - the Gospel of John- and reflecting on it in conversation with exemplary Christian readers. In this way the course will offer a lived example of the practive and virtue of "slow reading"
