Work of organization: The Scott Mission is a non-profit, faith-based organization that works with the homeless men of the downtown Toronto area, as well as low income families and at risk youth. We also have a fully functioning day care.

Kinds of internships: Currently we have internships in the Men's Ministry department that focuses on serving the homeless men of downtown.

We are also accepting interns in the City Youth Programs department working with at risk youth and low income families in specific communities.

Desirable skills:We are looking for students with a vibrant faith and active relationship with Jesus who have a desire to work with families, at risk youth, and community stakeholders with the purpose of seeing communities transformed with the power and love of God through practical forms of service.

Number of internships: Two.

Location of internships: 1550 O'Connor Dr. (O'Connor and Eglinton).

Duration of internships: 3 to 6 months.

Costs: Basic transportation to and from the site.

Insurance: No.

Medical coverage: No.

Training: Students will be trained in the area of youth work and community involvement will include regular gatherings, one on one discussions and feedback as well as on the job training.

Evaluation: There will be an evaluation.

Volunteering: Yes. The Scott Mission offers accepts many volunteers each year. There is a volunteer process that must be completed before a volunteer can begin with us. This includes a volunteer application form, an interview, and volunteer training..

Faith statement: In 1941 the following Statement of Faith was adopted for The Scott Mission:

1.To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Jewish people.

2.To minister to the spiritual needs of Jew and Gentile alike.

3.To feed the hungry, clothe the naked and minister to all in need, in accordance with our Lordís command, as means are provided.

4.To conduct Bible classes for young and old, and present Jesus as the Messiah of the Hebrew people and the Saviour of the world.

5.To distribute the Old and New Testaments and other Christian literature.

6.To present the need and importance of Jewish evangelism in the Christian Church.

7.The Mission is non-denominational and evangelical, and shall be conducted on a faith basis.
