Exceptional Opportunity to Work with Leaders in the Field of Church Volunteer Management
Friday February 1st, 2008
Wycliffe is pleased to offer to the greater church an opportunity to learn about leading volunteers in a church setting from two experts in the field. Suzanne Lawson and Marilyn Mackenzie, professional Human Resource managers, will lead this course for lay ministry leaders and clergy.
This course is designed for lay leaders and clergy to develop more effective ways of engaging members in volunteer activity in their congregations. Building on sound theological principles and current human resource practice, participants will gain knowledge, experience and confidence in stewarding volunteer resources that will help them in their work as congregational leaders.
A systematic approach will be presented, with opportunities to work on designing job descriptions, matching volunteers with meaningful tasks, screening for high risk positions, supervising and delegating, and recognizing volunteer effort on a limited budget.
Participants will learn to identify and work with different motivational styles and create environments where the gifts of people can be expressed, grown, and acknowledged. Some attention will be paid to working with difficult volunteers.
