James Settee School students study at Wycliffe for month of March 2010
Thursday March 18th, 2010
The Rev. Canon Angus Sewap and Wycliffe Principal George Sumner.
During the month of March 2010, eight members of the Cree Nation in Northern Saskatchewan left their homes and travelled to Wycliffe College in Toronto to study under the satellite of the James Settee School.
Our visitors include: The Ven. Adam & Theresa Halkett (Montreal Lake), the Rev. Wilfred & Theresa Sanderson (Forth La Corne), the Rev. Canon Angus & Eliza Sewap (Pelican Narrows), and Charles & the Rev. Beryl Whitecap (Little Red River Reserve). The eight have been participating in the Wycliffe Community during their stay – taking classes with Wycliffe Graduates Gary Graber (a director at James Settee School) and Brian Peterson along with Prof. Alan Hayes; and will attend a weekend retreat at the end of the month led by Prof. Wanda Malcolm - leading two Wednesday Event discussions: one on Addiction Counselling and a second about Cree Ministry. They have also had a chance to take part in Council Fire and various ministries led by Wycliffe Grads the Rt. Rev. Mark MacDonald and the Rev. Andrew Wesley.
While in Toronto the group has taken in various sites of the city including a trip to the top of the CN Tower and Niagara Falls, and some - major Toronto Maple Leaf fans - have taken in Leaf games as well.
Wycliffe is thankful to the four families who have billeted our guests during their stay; and to the Anglican Foundation for their financial support.
