Principal Sumner visits the Diocese of the Windward Islands
Thursday March 22nd, 2012
Principal Sumner with Bishop Leopold Friday
From March 13th to 15th, Principal Sumner led the Lenten clergy retreat for the diocese of the Windward Islands on the theme of the renewal of the Church through portraits of the ministries of George Herbert, John Wesley, Charles Simeon, and the lay leaders of the East African Revival.
On Saturday, March 17th, Principal Sumner led a lay conference at the diocesan pastoral centre in Kingston, St. Vincent, on the themes of stewardship and lay ministry, and on the 18th he preached in the Cathedral.
The visit also afforded the opportunity to finally master the rules of cricket (through watching the international match between Australia and the West Indies) and for Principal Sumner's son Sam to climb up a volcano and learn to play dominoes! Both are grateful to Bishop Leopold Friday and his family for their hospitality. We hope the relation with the diocese might continue to be extended through the use of Wycliffe's online course resources.
