The Rev. George D. Sandilands (1928-2013)
A man of principle and of God, The Rev. George Donald Sandilands lived to meet his great-granddaughter, to inspire his grandchildren and to command the love and respect of all who knew him. A Montrealer by birth, he began his career as a Chartered Accountant in 1952 before the call to serve the Anglican Church claimed him in 1965. But long before then, he had heeded the call of Lois Thorpe, whom he married in 1951. Together they served parishes in the Diocese of Montreal, and were on assignment from the Anglican Church of Canada to Central Africa. They retired to Innisfil, where Sandilands continued to preach throughout the area. He died last month while on vacation in South Carolina in his 85th year. He is survived by wife Lois, their four children, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. (Obituary and picture from www.lifenews.ca)
A memorial service took place at First Christian Reformed Church in Barrie. The Rev. Sandilands was a Wycliffe College graduate of 1969.
