Making sense of the senselessIn the wake of the horrific mass killing in Toronto yesterday, journalists and writers are - like all of us - struggling to make sense of the senseless. People around the world reacted to the news of yesterday’s tragic events with shock, disbelief, horror. A sinking sense of "not again." The collective Canadian heart sank. "Not here." At some level, our responses have to be because - whether we think about it consciously or not - we deeply value human life. We recognize the injustice when innocent life is snatched away.
