The Canadian Church Research Symposium
The Canadian Institute for Empirical Church Research at Wycliffe College is pleased to invite Canadian-based church leaders, church researchers, and members of the general public to join us for the second day of our first Canadian Church Research Symposium on Friday, December 15th.
Our keynote speaker Professor Scott Thuma (Hartford Institute for Religion Research) and three panels of notable Canadian researchers and denominational leaders will be sharing how their own journey has been impacted by the intersection of data and the nature of Canadian church life. These presentations and moderated conversations will consider the possible futures of the Canadian church, how data-informed decision-making shapes congregations and denominations, the challenges and opportunities afforded by a new era of digital data collection, and how collaborative information gathering might benefit congregations and academics.
The day begins with coffee and refreshments at 8:30 am and a welcome at 9:00 am. After our keynote and our first panel, we will be taking a catered lunch break at 12pm (if you will be joining for lunch, please ensure you registered in advance). We be holding two final panels and a brief final conversation from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
