TORONTO - Renowned humanitarian and Christian leader, The Rev. Canon Dr. Andrew White, Vicar of St George’s Church, Baghdad (the only Anglican Church in Iraq) received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Wycliffe College on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 during a service in Founders’ Chapel in Toronto.
Despite battling Multiple Sclerosis and numerous attempts on his life, Mr. White has worked tirelessly for peace and reconciliation on behalf of religious communities in the Middle East and continues to advocate for the oppressed in war-torn regions.
“Andrew White is a courageous example to our students of what a radical commitment to Christ is all about and we are privileged to honour him with this degree,” says Rev. Dr. George Sumner, Principal of Wycliffe College.
