New Interim Chaplain Appointed

The Reverend Ajit John

Principal Stephen Andrews has announced the appointment of the Reverend Ajit John as Interim Chaplain of Wycliffe College for the coming Fall 2023 academic term. Ajit is known to many in the College as a former Wycliffe Board member, a trustee of the Toronto School of Theology Board, and as the current Chair of the Anglican Communion Alliance. He has been a Priest in the Anglican Church of Canada for nearly twenty years, serving congregations both here in Toronto and the Diocese of Europe. After completing a BA and an MA at the University of Toronto, he studied law at the University of Western Ontario. Ajit practiced law in Toronto for nearly 45 years, spending thirty-five of those years with the Law Society of Upper Canada, including six years as an adjudicator with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

He undertook theological training both at Wycliffe College and at Nashotah House, from which he received a STM in 2003. Ajit was made an Associate Alumni of the College in 2022. He also holds an LLM in Canon Law from Cardiff.

As a mentor and spiritual director for Wycliffe students and ordinands, Ajit says he is looking forward to being involved in the community life of the College and to being a pastoral resource to students, faculty, and staff.
