Reading Hebrew Prose: Judges

Summary

The aim of this course is to develop the student’s fluency in reading Biblical Hebrew prose through a description and consolidation of its grammatical and literary features. Attention will also be paid to exegetical tools and aids accompanying the text in the form of Masoretic notes, accents, and interval markers, as well as of modern critical commentary in the BHS and BHQ editions of Judges. Prerequisite: two semesters of Biblical Hebrew. Evaluation will be based on the student’s weekly preparation of the assigned text, class participation, quizzes, and a final term project.
