Peter RobinsonProfessor of Proclamation, Worship and Ministry, Basic Degree Director
DPhil (Kings College, London) Bio:BSc (Guelph), MA (Regent) After working in the business world for several years following his first degree, Dr Peter Robinson attended Regent College to take a few courses. He wanted to think more deeply about what it means to be a Christian in the business world and how faith might be integrated with professional life. That pursuit eventually led him to King’s College London, where he completed a PhD under the supervision of Colin Gunton and Douglas Farrow. While living in London, he began working at All Souls Clubhouse as a pastoral assistant: "This proved to be a great gift, not only because it gave me a community to belong to, but because it continually pushed me to consider the practical implications of the theology I was studying," he says. In his final year at King’s, he married Tiffany, whom he had first met at Regent. At the time, she was studying theology at University of Cambridge. After completing his studies, they moved to Toronto, where he was ordained in the Anglican Church and began serving in a parish on the city’s west side. Meanwhile, Tiffany began her PhD at Wycliffe, and along the way they were blessed with three (now adult) children. Over the next decade, Peter served in two different churches while also teaching as an adjunct professor at Wycliffe College and Tyndale University. In 2011, Dr Robinson joined Wycliffe full-time while continuing to serve in various churches as an honorary or interim pastor, including two brief placements in France through the Diocese in Europe. He also began working with Langham Partnership (an organization serving the church in the majority world). "I remain deeply grateful for the opportunity to work in both the church and the academy at the same time," he says. "Each vocation continually shapes the other, influencing how I think about theology and its place within the practice of ministry." Publications:
