Wycliffe College Professor Emeritus of Evangelism, John Bowen, has been honoured as a recipient of a 2021 Lambeth Award - the Alphege Award for Evangelism and Witness - for his attractive articulation of the love of God for all people, with a particular heart for those who have not yet heard the name of Jesus, and for his mentoring and discipling of Christian leaders. Announced by the Archbishop of Canterbury on April 7, 2021, the Lambeth Awards, which recognise outstanding contributions to the Church and wider society, have been given to over 30 individuals. Registration is now open for Toronto School of Theology’s Graduate Summer Language Courses. TST language courses are designed for graduate students in Theological, Historical, Pastoral or Biblical Studies, or related disciplines, who require reading knowledge in a research language. Students will learn the fundamentals of grammar and vocabulary required for translation and reading comprehensive. All coruses are conducted in English, and assume no previous language study. Before the pandemic, the heart of Wycliffe community life was the chapel. And it still is. In recognition of that reality, we've recently made some investments designed to improve the online experience of participating in chapel worship. Wycliffe classes - 21 this term - are back in session. And while our building remains closed due to the pandemic, faculty, staff, and students are all hard at work. Also back at work, is Wycliffe's COVID Response Team, which is composed of seven people who represent the College's staff, faculty, and residents. The Province of Ontario entered another state of emergency last week, and so we continue to offer all classes and programming online for the foreseeable future. During this time of the pandemic, our students have all adapted to remote learning. It's not always been an easy transition. Many are missing the experience of in-person community that Wycliffe is known for. The Fall/Winter edition of Wycliffe's alumni magazine, Insight, features a story by senior student Amber Tremblett on what the pandemic has meant to her in that role.
